From a Workshop to the World Wide Web

PegGames.Online was born in a small woodworking workshop in 2022, when founder James Oakley — a lifelong puzzle enthusiast and cabinet maker — noticed that the beloved peg solitaire boards he crafted for farmers' markets were drawing crowds who had never seen one before.

People were fascinated, but hesitant to buy before they had a chance to play. So James did what any puzzle-obsessed craftsman would do: he built a digital version, true to the feel of the physical board, so anyone in the world could discover the joy of peg puzzles before committing to a handmade set.

What started as a simple companion website grew into a full puzzle platform — with multiple game variants, board shapes, difficulty levels, and thousands of players returning every week for their daily puzzle challenge.

What We Stand For

🌳
Sustainability
Every physical board is made from sustainably sourced oak, maple, and walnut. We partner with certified local sawmills and plant one tree for every set sold.
🤝
Accessibility
Our online games are free, forever. We believe puzzle joy shouldn't cost anything to discover. Premium is for those who want a real board in their hands.
🔨
Craftsmanship
Whether it's a hand-drilled maple board or our pixel-perfect digital pegs, we obsess over every detail — because quality is felt, not just seen.
🧩
Community
We listen to our players. Board shapes added by community request, difficulty modes voted in — PegGames grows because of the people who play it.

How We Make the Real Thing

Every physical board we sell is made entirely by hand in our small workshop. Here's what goes into each one:

🌲
Sustainably Sourced Wood
We source only FSC-certified hardwoods — primarily white oak, hard maple, and American black walnut — from a family sawmill two hours from our workshop.
🔩
Hand Drilled & Routed
Each hole is individually drilled on a custom jig for perfect spacing. The board edges are hand-routed with a chamfer to give that satisfying feel in your hands.
Hand-Applied Finish
Boards receive three coats of natural beeswax and linseed oil finish, hand-rubbed between coats. No varnish, no plastics — just wood the way it should feel.
🎁
Beautifully Packaged
Every set ships in a cotton drawstring bag with a hand-stamped card explaining the game's history. It's designed to be given as a gift — or kept as a treasure.
⚙️
Turned Pegs & Marbles
Pegs are hand-turned on a small lathe from offcuts of the same wood as the board, giving each set a perfectly matched grain and tone.
📝
Custom Engraving
Want a name, date, or message on your board? We offer laser engraving on the underside or top face — perfect for anniversaries, birthdays, and retirements.
